Design and build of a new 5 Green Star rated primary school on a greenfields site for the Ministry of Education. Hingaia Peninsula School (years 0-8) is New Zealand’s first green star built school. It was cost-planned to a set budget on an open-book basis.
This project required close work from inception with the Ministry of Education and the Hingaia School Board of Trustees to design a primary school that meets the Board and MOE’s requirements as well as complying with the Green Star Rating.
The design of the school is based on two large (290m2) learning studios with three teachers in each studio. The studios are multi functional spaces with nooks to cater for a variety of learning styles.
